Research and development

Provedo nursery is involved in three different R+D programs: one in vine and two in fruit trees.

Unlike other sectors in industrial industry our nurseries projects last several years as we work with wood varieties and they are tested in soil by technical personnel to monitor the progress.

Research project is called: “Sanitary, genetic, clonal selection from Tempranillo vine variety of high wine quality of  Rioja A.O.C.”

With a budget of over 600.000 euros over several years developed at the main nursery of the company in collaboration with the National Institute of Agricultural
Investigation and the Biotechnology  National Center.

The other fruit trees projects are based on producing new fruit varieties and fruit rootstocks.

The innovative one is to produce new fruit varieties working together with export enterprises to ensure that the fruit doesn’t loss taste once it arrives to the consumer markets.

These fruit projects are developed in Extremadura, mainly in peach and plum varieties and with the collaboration of Aula Dei in Zaragoza and the Ministery of Agriculture and the University of Extremadura.

These projects last several years and have a budget over 2 million euros.
