Variety cultivated in Leon region, used for producing sparkling wines.

CLUSTER AND GRAPE

Close medium- small, compact cluster, with short lateral arm.  Small, oval grape.

PLAGUES AND DISEASES

Very rustic variety, resistant to plagues and diseases.

AGRICULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS

Medium to low production, floor growing, so vines should be conducted on trellis systems. Late pruning recommended  to avoid frost.

OENOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICS

Rose wines are made from this variety naturally sparkling giving a nice and peculiar taste. It can also be made by carbonic maceration.
